NEWS & NOTES

MASON BYNES ANNOUNCED AS THE INAUGURAL WINNER OF THE FLORENCE PRICE COMMISSION COMPETITION

Picture
Mason Bynes is a Boston-based composer, vocalist, and multimedia artist who strives to bridge the gap between genre and sound in order to bring listeners together. Her passion and musical curiosity have sparked a variety of commissions with various ensembles and artists, including The Westerlies and Festival of New Trumpet Music, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, WyndSync, Ex-Aequo, Boston Art Song Society, Bass Players for Black Composers, and New York's Parlando Chamber Orchestra.

Recently, her music has been featured with the North End Music & Performing Arts Center, BBC Radio 3, the International Society of Bassists, Dallas Opera, The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, and Fort Worth Opera, among others. She has also appeared in interviews with CBS, NBC-DFW, and Fox 4 News. She currently serves on the film/TV composition team at Raging Cloud Studios, and she also works as a Career Services Advisor at Berklee College of Music.

Mason is looking forward to future collaborations with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, The Concord Music Band, and Emmanuel Music. She is thrilled to present her music at the 25th Anniversary African American Art Song Alliance Conference in Irvine, California, later this year. Additionally, Mason is looking forward to the release of her compositions on a variety of albums with Ex-Aequo, The Westerlies, and local artists in the Boston area.
