Washington Master Chorale’s new Sankofa Project serves to amplify Black voices through concerts, educational workshops, lectures and recital series, choral readings, and community conversations with Black composers and musicians. A new initiative in partnership with the Lloyd Mallory Singers.
Join us for the inaugural Sankofa Project event, featuring Dr. Lloyd Mallory and Stanley Thurston, as well as Washington Master Chorale's Thomas Colohan, in a choral reading session and workshop celebrating music of Black composers, including Adolphus Hailstork, Florence Price, Richard Smallwood, Jasmine Barnes, Nathaniel Dett, and more. A light supper will be provided to all workshop participants, followed by a concert featuring members of the Washington Master Chorale and the Lloyd Mallory Singers that is free and open to the public. |
